Can a person be sued while on disability? |
I live in MISSOURI, and I was "told" that a person on disability cannot get sued. IS THIS TRUE? Ok, next question going along with this is: If the disabled person wins and doesn't pay, Can jail/prison time be a judgement? or not because it is not Criminal, however a Civil Battle??? No, a person can not go to jail/prison for a civil matter. The only thing they can do is if they make any money beyond the disability they can garnish it. Anyone can be sued. However, the person suing is not likely to get any money since the disability is untouchable and if someone is on disability it is unlikely they have any money. No, what they meant to say is that a person who is on disability can be sued, but cannot be made to pay a judgment if you win, so why bother. |
