Can you get disability if you are over a certain weight?

With our failing economy I was wondering about this because my husband is a large fellow and keeps getting laid off due to the crappy economy. We both have very good work ethic but someone suggested he may be able to claim disability/ss because of his weight. We'd never do this because we are hard working people and he has a great work ethic, but I just thought that was interesting. What do you know about it?

Adrianna: You're right we are complete and lazy bums. Thanks for being so judgemental. My husband would NEVER go on disability for being overweight, I just thought that was an interesting concept, I never said it was right (if it were true). We are total bums, I am so glad you pointed that out to me, because you know me so well! And no, not only people who have disabilities get disability/ssi, many people know how to rip the system off. I know plenty of people who have life threatening illnesses and they have a very hard time getting approved.

He can't get disability for a SPECIFIC weight. He MAY be able to claim disability if his weight interferes with his ability to earn an income.

No. Not for being overweight. That's not a legit reason and they would refuse it.

wow, I would definitely ask maybe a caseworker

i doubt that you are really hard working people with good work ethics if you trying to get disability/SS because you cant keep a job. If you were hard working then perhaps he should lose weight.

If you have health problems then you can get on disability. but knowing today you can get it saying anything.

If you'd never do it then why are you asking?

thats what i thought

If he were one of those bed bound people, sure. If he is capable of movement, no.

sounds like Adrianna is right, why else would you be asking if you werent interesed in trying ti out since you KNEW so much about how hard it is to get and how scammers get it as well.
