My sister is 7 months pregnant and she wants to give her employer a 2 wk notice, can she file for disability?

Pregnancy is not a covered "disability" unless there are complications that a doctor can certify to the gov.

SHE IS A VERY CRAZY PERSON IF YOU ASK ME

Depending on what type of insurance she has and how long she has been with her employer.. Have her check with her Human resource person on FMLA which is Family Medical Leave Act.. she will have to contact the company that handles the short term disability claims to get the paperwork and have her dr fill it out but she cantake the time off , she may not get paid for it but at least it will save her job for her..

she should be asking for her matunity leave not filing for disability.. she is not disabled because she is pregnant.. she will loose all of her benefits if she quits her job...........

You have already been told that pregnancy is not a viable disability.

However, if her employer has more than 15 employees and she has worked for more than 12 months, she has the option of FMLA.

no she should wait until the baby is born get Short Term Disablity and then give notice staying she wants to stay home. Tell her to suck it up because it is worth it, in the US

In most instances pregnancy and birth aren't disabilities but cause for joy.

No. Pregnancy is not a disability. To be disabled you must have something wrong with you that is expected to last at least 12 months. In fact, her being pregnant will preclude her from getting unemployment. The best she oculd deo is TEA, which is "welfare". Who does she live with? How is she going to support herself? Is she married? She really needs to try and figure out what she is going to do really soon because the baby is coming with or without any plans in place and she will be left without income for several weeks (if not more). She needs to figure this out. NOW!

Having a kid is not a disability, she will get nothing by filing. She could ask for materity leave, she will get 4 weeks
