Dui and hit run in california? |
my bf just got his first dui and was also charged with a hit and run his court date is in two weeks does anyone know what the possible punishment would be? could he leave the state ? this happened in california i live in georgia... he is trying to move out to georgia and the only thing hold him back is this court date could he leave the state after his court date is there any way he could move his court date back? Leave the state? You mean run from the law? That's a brilliant idea! In CA, the difference between a misdemeanor and a felony, for both DUI and hit and run, is if anyone was injured *at all.* So if anyone got hurt, even just a small laceration, he is a felon and is going to do time in "pound me in the ***" prison. If it is a misdemeanor the kinds of punishments vary. He might be a California resident longer than he had planned - could wind up in jail. |
