PA DUI for Xanax - Prescribed - Penalty? |
I am just curious about this situation. A friend of my is going to court for his first DUI in Pennsylvania. The questionable thing is, he got a DUI while under the influence of a medication he is actually prescribed to take. Alprazolam, 1mg 4x a day. He has never had a previous DUI, nor was he drinking at the time. What do you think? Well the reason he got the DUI is because he was in a car accident with a state trooper cruiser... yea not good. He already does have a lawyer. I just find it odd that he is prescribed something that everyone knows impairs your ability, yet they do not tell him he cannot drive. If you have a good lawyer, those charges will never stick. You can and should be arrested for driving while impaired no matter how you got that way. If I were prescribed oxycontin or some other powerful medication and i really had a legitamate reason for taking it if it temporarily impaired me I would have no more right to drive a car than if I had drank a case of beer which is also legal. www.duihelpnow.info That he should get a lawyer and get that thrown out. It's a load of bull. I would be finding a lawyer fast. |
