Just got a DUI. Can I get a permit to drive to and from work? |
I live in CA. This is my first offense. I hit another car. Charges are DUI, "hit and run property damage" (I hit a parked car two doors down, then parked in front of my house, and walked inside, the cops rang my doorbell and arrested me, all within about 2 minutes). The only time a restricted or hardship license is issued, is when there is absolutely no other form of transportation available. With the DUI and a hit and run? Not likely! No, especially not with the hita and run, that's a pretty bad offense (felony, i think?) Adding in the Hit and Run, I doubt it. Many States have a special permit for work only purposes so you could check. If it was granted, you would probably also need to have a breath device installed on your car. This is not free, or cheap. |
