What is the Punishment for criminal trespass? |
I entered my H.S. at night with some friends, after I left they stole our school mascot. I was charged with burglary at first, but then they found out I wasn't involved and dropped my charge to a class E criminal trespass. I am Planning on leaving the country to Volunteering in the fall before returning for school, I am wondering what the sentencing could be, how to go about getting a "strait sentence", and also if there is a possibility I would not be able to leave. This was my first offense, also I co-operated with the police. I'd say you more than likely won't be able to leave the country. Rather it was just stealing a mascot the laws are so different these days.. You need to contact a lawyer.. And if you attempt to leave the country they will do a back ground chek and more than likely you won't be able to leave! Not sure.. In Virginia it's a class one misdemeanor. That means you could face up to a year in jail. If it's your first time usually they'll just make you do like community service and be of good behavior for awhile. Most likely an amended charge (reduced to an Ordinance violation) and a fine. |
