Is a misdeameanor(MIP) considered a criminal offense in Michigan

I recently got an MIP, but the cop who wrote the ticket made a mistake because i was a minor, so i have to wait for juvinille court to contact me.. however is an MIP a criminal offense, because on the Michigan State University application they ask if you have been convicted of a criminal offense or are pending one

If it's classified as a misdemeanor, then yes, it's a criminal offense. Speeding tickets aren't criminal, but misdemeanors are.
