I have fines due from under age drinking will they show up on a criminal check? |
I have fines due from under age drinking and I just got a job and they told me that they are doing a criminal check that last charge was i think a year ago and I also have fines for i think 2007 from having cigs. at school will they show up? That depends on if these are crimnal offences in your state, and exactly what type of background check they are doing. They may show up, but for the most part, companies are looking for history of violent crimes (assaults/sexual crimes) and theft, and if you are trying to get a job with a company car, they are looking for the driving infractions. Misdemeanors DO NOT DROP OFF YOUR RECORD. This is a myth that people KEEP SPREADING. Just like that your juvenile record is purged when you turn 18. Neither is true. Now it could be expunged or sealed(although you'd have to go through the legal process about getting it expunged and it being sealed could depend on the State), but don't think oh I wasn't 18 and now I am so I have no record. A SUMMARY OFFENSE may drop off, but I doubt that happens. Anyway it MAY show up, especially the underage drinking part. Although they mostly look for felonies. Just be honest with them about your prior charges if they ask. Also STOP DOING IT(yeah I know you said a year ago but I'm talking in general). If you haven't done anything for a year they may figure why not give you a chance. Those will count as misdemeanors. It "should" come off your record after a couple of years as long as you paid the fine. 7 yrs i think is what it takes to get stuff off your record. Usually when jobs to a criminal background check, they are looking for felonies. Or crimes that would directly effect your job, i.e. theft if you're applying for a bank job. That kind of thing. Probably Yes the cahrges and the fines will show up. Yes if you dont pay them. unpaid? Yes. Had you settled this, might have dropped off. |
