Should cameras be placed in courtrooms so that criminal trials can be televised? |
Should cameras be placed in courtrooms so that criminal trials can be televised? No. Cameras turn trials into 3 ring circuses. Not sure I understand... many trials do have news cameras ALLOWED, at the discretion of the the judge, at least for certain portions. They wind up on the news all the time, at least in the US. There always has been a right for the public to view trials, to insure that they are conducted according to law and fairly. If you are asking if there should be permanent cameras, solely for the purpose of making court activity accessible for "entertainment".. No. That undermines the function of the court. It can color the judgement of the judge and/or jury. They may either want to look good and impressive to the people, or they may fear they'll be beaten or killed if they let some guy off (even if its done lawfully or there is a real reasonable doubt). It depends on the people involved in the trial if they want their trials to be viewed by the public. But I believe most would like to have their privacy. For pinhole video cameras check this out http://www.video-surveillance-guide.com/... No. They can install security cameras for safety purposes but everyone in the courtroom has a right to privacy so unless every single person in that courtroom agrees then they're not allowed to play it on tv. no.. with consent. chyea |
