Do guns ever malfunction? |
Hi, doing a debate for school, and i was wondering if anyone had information (or could recommend a website) about a gun that was designed poorly/ malfunctioned/ instructions weren't clear and it led to an accidental death or injury. i am a negative, and i have to have information as to why manufacturers are NOT to blame for gun related deaths. it is a consumer goods debate. glossary of gun malfunctions The original M-16 Rifle was very jam-prone and had lots of problems in Vietnam...just google "original m-16 jamming" and you can find lots of articles. Of course manufacturers aren't to blame for gun related deaths. The consumer decided to purchase the firearm. Yes guns malfunction, I'm in the Marines, I know, but it's still the responsibility of the shooter/owner to take care of and know their weapon. If you're weapon goes off, you are responsible. That would be like saying McDonald's is responsible for people getting fat. Yes their product is fattening, but you don't have to buy it. Guns are just a tool, its the users responsibility to know, maintain, and use that tool responsibly. look up 'Saturday night special' and try this as a jump off point: http://www.saf.org/LawReviews/Dimos1.htm |
