Speeding Ticket advice? |
I received the first ticket in my life the other day. I was driving through a construction zone, and I admit, I was not paying attention to the speed limit. There were no construction workers present, but there were signs and barrels and whatnot. The police officer told me that she clocked me accelerating from 41-47 in a 35. She was kind enough to write it for 40 in a 35. Call the Court Clerk's Office to where you Ignorance is no excuse. You were speeding and got caught. Pay your fine and be thankful that she only wrote you up for 40 and not 47. Also be glad that it's not "fines double in work zone". I think you should deny the speeding ticket. You are person who has lots of experience in driving. If I was me I would tell them my reasons for not paying for the speeding ticket. If you deny it you will keep your money and not have a speeding ticket on your record. Go to court - the judge will definitely reward you for showing up (typically by lowering the points and/or fine). If you honestly did not know the speed limit, go to court and provide an explanation. Don't even think about lying to the judge though....they then take the attitude that you think they are stupid and take it out on you! |
