'Defacing' US money question??


So, I have heard people say that when they get money, they cross out the word "God" in the phrase "In God We Trust"

I totally agree that the phrase needs to be removed. Makes the money more constitutional and all

I see writing on money all the time. "Track Your Money", etc.

But, is it technically 'defacing' US currency? [illegal?]

You aren't adding anything to deceive anyone, you are just crossing out something you do not believe in and think should not be on there

The current currency is not constitutional which is a strange thing, but it was started by FDR. As I understand it, the currency is being promulgated by fiat. Which means that no legal entity objects even if it not done by virtue of a constitutional amendment. Money is the pervue of banks and banks like things as they are. What they have accomplished is to make the U.S. market subject to international control and out of the control of the U.S. electorate. Something our parochial founding fathers feared and thought they had prevented.

To answer your question, no it is just paper.

Let's see.........." and all men are created equal and are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Those people that wrote that knew nothing about the Constitution, did they?

And the "Creator" is?

By the way, the phrase "separation of Church and State' does not appear in the Constitution.

Boy, you have too much time on your hands if you do that to all of your paper money. Do you do that to coins as well?

No, it's not illegal, not even "technically," unless done with fraudulent intent.

Why don't you just get a debit card? There are several issuers that will let you design your own with your own photos and text. Maybe yours can have "In God We Trust" with a big red circle and slash over it.
