Can anybody site a source regarding First Amendment rights for minors?

I've read numerous questions already that ask about Constitutional rights of minors, but here is what I was wondering: can anybody give me a source (preferably governmental or of that nature) that explains a minor's First Amendment rights? I am primarily interested in the right of petition in regard to schools. Thank you all for the help.

Can a principal or administrator of a school refuse to look at or recognize a petition of over 400 students, almost all who are under the age of 18? What kind of authority do the students have when it comes to administrative decisions?

You have no first amendment rights, you are a child. Instead of worrying about whatever stupid issue you believe is important, go study something. You will be better off for it.

The first amendment guarantees the right to PETITION the government. It does NOT guarantee anyone in the government will RESPOND to the petition. Even granting the school can be considered the government, your right to petition was NOT violated in this case.

That happened to a friend of mine in high school and she made HUNDREDS of copies in all different colors and posted them ALL over school! Gave them to everyone! The principle FINALLY read them!

You have the same rights as the adults do, but as a minor you fall into a different category and fall under the rules of the institution of your education, home, clubs, etc. The reason for this is because your parent are still responsible for you, so you don't have the same exact rights. For example, you have no right to bear arms.....your parent are benevolent dictators in their castle.
