is it illegal?

I do it for a personal use only.

However, if it is illegal, I will not do it

thanks everyone

LOL

It's illegal -- period. End of story. No gray area here. It's stealing. If you don't plan on buying a copy of it, and you plan on keeping it even if it's just for your own use, it's stealing. Period.

Amazing how most people think it's OK to do something if it's done with a few strokes of the keyboard ... or in the privacy of their own home. But if it was a box you were stuffing under your coat and walking out of the store with at Wal-Mart, would you be posting the question here?

I purchase lots of software on the internet. I build webpages and do graphic design for a living. I don't have ONE shareware piece of software on my machine. But I pay a hefty pricetag for all of my products because of the enormous amount of theft that goes on from people who don't think twice about just burning a copy of their friend's software for themselves. I've been asked by friends many times if they can just 'borrow' that disc for a couple days... the answer is always 'no.'..

I busted my *** for the money to buy that. Go buy your own.

yes it is illigal, because you are making a copy of that program.
but i'd say go for it, as long as you're not copying it onto another cd and selling it or uploading the program to the internet - you're really not doing anything really wrong.

Well ... it's technically illegal, but pretty difficult to prove and won't be tracked by the authorities.

As long as you don't sell the copies, you probably would be OK. It's like a compact disk of music.

Whether its legal or not, they wont care until you actually try and distribute the cd. Then you will be playing with fire.

Wow.... you gotta love the ethics of the people on this site.

It's illegal.

Yes, it is illegal. DO NOT DO IT!!!!!!! yes I am screaming at you I do not want u to get in trouble.

It is illegal...but you're a small fish in the ocean...

Technically...yes. But the government will never know if you don't tell them.
