Will I get fired?

I KNOW THAT NO ONE CAN GIVE ME A DEF. ANSWER JUST LOOKING FOR OPINOUNS! I work in a very laid back office, me and other employees were pulled in a meeting friday to be talked about our personal usage on the computers. I was asked to leave about 4:30 when i got off at five so my computer history could be looked at (they already new what I had been on though) with out me messing with it. But my big boss said that I was going to be written up and if it happend again I would be fired. Also they kept me on the clock untill 5 that day. I was told to come in monday on normal time and that some one was probably going to talk to me about it. Im not sure what happend to the others after I left. If they were going to fire me wouldnt they have done it then? Would they have kept me on the clock if I was going to get fired monday? Im scared to death!! What do you think? Have you ever been fired?

also I wanted to say that I know I was wrong, I made a mistake and will and have learned from this experience, I took advantage of the office and I know it. It has also never effected my job, I have always done what has been asked of me and always get my work done in time. I asked them to take that into consideration. I have worked there for almost a year and this is the first time I have ever gotten in trouble.
thank you.

You were written up, you are still employed however on shaky ground. You will want to not abuse the fact that the office is laid back and stop using the computers for personal use from now one. Company time is company time.

While in the office only do things which benefit the office or you will be fired

What's on that history? Don't be surprised if you get fired. But don't worry; getting let go is not the end of the world. The average person has 17 jobs in their lifetime. Use it as a good opportunity to learn from mistakes and to move onward and upward. Good luck.

It does not sound like you are going to be fired. Sound like they might put you back on a probation status or something. Hopefully you were not looking at porn or something. Were you? You sound like a pretty solid worker. I think you will be okay.

Sounds like you could get fired. If you don't I would follow your offices policy on personal computer usage very strictly. I have never been fired, but I have quit many jobs.

Dont get too much worried if you feel you are humiliated just resign,,,I had done it a couple of times. besides you were not warned to use the net other than the office use..

Your a gonner for sure. LOL Just joking. I dont think they are going to fire you they are probably going to give you a verbal warning.

It sounds like you will just be warned, just make sure you dont get caught at it again.

Since you don't say what you did, nobody can give you more than a guess.

If what you did involved illegal activity, you will be fired.
Otherwise, it's all up to the company, and will depend on their own policies. If they have a clear cut policy against something you have done, your situation is worse. If they really are laid-back, and this is the first time they've brought this up, then your chances are better.

Since he told you 'next time' I would guess you're just going to get written up, but there is nothing to force them to honor that statement.

You probably still have a job--for now. My guess is your employer will reconsider the "laid back " atmosphere around the office. When you stretch things too far, you ruin it for everybody. You said that you always get done with what they ask of you, yet you seem to have time to play around on the internet. My advice to you would be to go beyond what is asked of you and find more that you can do for the company. Volunteer for projects. Help out people who are behind on their work. Make yourself indispensable. The economy isn't looking so bright, and if your boss was told he had to lay someone off next week, you would be at the top of the list. Work hard not to be on that list at all.
