Can your employeer tell you to go home without notice and then require you to make up the time? |
My wife was sent home the other day from work with no notice because the computers crashed and was told to come back in two hours. They did not pay her for the time which she could live with but now they want her to make up the hours. Is there a law against that? Yes it is legal to do that, and it is legal to require the hours be made up. Work decisions sometimes aren't glamorous as far as ethics go, or even how supervisors do their jobs. Management makes the call and the employees follow that decision. It's legal, and she'll be paid for those two hours when she makes them up. As far as being sent home without notice, I'm pretty sure the computers crashed without notice. legal, yes, mean and not nice, yes.. yes, absolutely LEGAL get paid only for time worked I would check with the Better Business Bureau,or Labor Dept! Good Luck! Its not right!!! |
