Can I sue these people for religion discrimination?

I was living in a homeless shelter & the managers over the shelter wanted me to go to church, but I told them I don't believe in God. So one of the ladies started throwing my things around & took a mop & pitched my valuables around like a baseball & bat & she broke my computer (physically-it has a big crack in it), but it is still functioning. & then the owner of the Salvation Army shelter saw the mess that she made & blamed it on me & then he got the security guard & the police to escort me out of there, when that wasn't necessary. I was leaving. & then the owner called me crazy & he got upset when the police didn't take me to jail.

Thank goodness I got my own apartment now.

Saying that God will take care of bad people to someone who doesn't believe in God is.....ignorant. You can sue them for religious discimination, though it would be hard to prove. I would sue for destruction of private property, emotional damages, and the cost of rent!

Good for you. For being able, to get it together and move on. As far as people like that go. God, will take care of them. Don't you worry about it.

Well, maybe it was a good thing because you got out of there. But anyway, the shelter didn't discriminate against you, the lady did. So at most you could sue the center for not protecting your property. But it will be very hard to prove. I'd suggest you move on with your life.

It's a comfort knowing that there are people out there who are grateful for my charity dollars (yes, I support the Salvation Army with cash donations) and receive their services gratefully. Have a nice day.

if a person can sue mcdonalds for not telling them their coffee was going to be hot, than you sue them for millions!

People sue other people for anything and everything in the US. I'm sure you can get a lawyer or ACLU to take your case. They make even settle, but more likely you won't see a dime. I would be more interested in making them understand what actually happened in this situation and the error of their ways in trying to force you to go to church. Probably not. The Salvation Army, as a religious charity, probably has a right to choose who receives its services. However, that doesn't give anyone the right to destroy or damage your personal property!

What did you lose? Free food & shelter. You knew that the Salvation Army was a religious organization when you asked for their help. Couldn't you have been grateful for the help & politely listened to what they had to say?

Somehow, I'm not sure that we are getting the whole story. There's your side, their side & what really happened.

Suing is stupid. Its a cop out and the fact that you wouldnt argue your/any beliefs but instead thought of ways you could profit off it tells me that you are in no place to incriminate others for close mindedness. yes they are intolerable. but recognizing their ignorance puts my being at ease believe it or not. because i know im the one thinking karma perspectively

If this place was run by a church organisation. then its there way of converting people.. You have two choices accept or reject.. Every day day the Sally Ann and others feed clothe and shelter thousand of people. some go to services and sleep others turn to god Its there choice..At easter and xmas Unoin gospel mission in Vancouver feeds 2500 people most are gratefull.. some will listen to the sermon..A former coworker was saved by them and now leades a good life
