Is it possible to arrest with this situation?

Our school has a controvercial website, this website has all the gossips found in the school. All of the students knew this website and all the computer teachers knew this site. No one knows who authored the site because its just said Mr. X, The comp. teachers told us that they will track the author. I am just concerned to the author that he might be prisoned! Is it possible for Mr. X to be jailed? how will our teachers track the source?

It's true, I'm Mr. X and I'm 14 years old, will I be arrested by the DSWD & and will my teachers track my computer in the my house? I'm really worried. I closed my website permanently and put an "I'm Sorry" post!!

ok mr x,

when teachers say this, its bull. our computer people take 3 weeks to repair a keyboard, and we have a specialist technology collage. half your computer teachers probably don't know what cookies are 4 god's sake. they can only trace what ip adress/ computer made the site anyway, unless you gave personal info. also great idea plastering the fact you're mr x on the internet. and as long as the website isn't offensive, or transmiting illegal material, it's perfectly legal, only worth a detention or two

Are you Mr. X? sounds like it. and well anything is possible.

you just told the whole world who Mr. X is :)

It's highly unlikely that someone could be arrested for simply for gossip - gossip, even on the web, may lead to civil liability if it is defamatory, but unless there is some criminal content, an arrest would be improper.

It does not sound like you committed a crime. But it does sound like you committed defamation or some other intentional tort. Therefore, you will likely not go to jail, but you may be sued for money by those whose reputations you injured by lying about them. You will be sued only if those people who (1) have standing to sue you and (2) actually do decide to sue you. Your teachers cannot sue you (unless you defamed them, of course).

Fortunately for you, you have a number of defenses to this tort, including your young age. It is more difficult to find that you are guilty of defamation because of your age.

It is so easy to find you, you wouldn't believe it. What will happen to you? It depends on what, if any, offensive material was on your "web site". As a 14 year old, you should be closely monitored by your parents anytime you are on the computer - this obviously is not the case.

Whatever happens, you will have to own it. What you did was stupid and irresponsible.

Good Luck - and FYI, a little fear is good for you.
