Legal: Being sued? |
In Florida. In 2004 when i was 17, i bought a car from a mechanic, the car was giving me problems not too long after. i was getting the paper done on the car. one day i went to take a quick drive to the mechanic whom sold me the car to get repairs, when i unexpectedly got into an accident. i didnt have my license, insurance or registration on car. i went to court and got the charges thrown out and had to do 24 hours community service. To get my license 2 years later, i has to get sr 22 insurance and maintain it for 3 years, in opposed to paying 3,000 to the driver of other driver to get a release. In 2007, a collection agency tried calling me to tell me i owe the guy 5,800 bucks. the people were rude so i shrugged it off. This year i get served with a potential law suit from the guy(his insurance company on it versus me and person who name was on title), saying i have to contact his attorney within 20 days or judgment will default to the plaintiff. Im in college and have no money. And hope they dont go after my money for school or go after my mother. Try to work out a payment plan. |
