Refuse collection?

Pre-paid waste sacks and wheelie bins with microchips could be introduced to make householders pay for their rubbish under plans outlined by council leaders. People could also be charged according to the size of the wheelie bin they choose to use. What do you think of these proposals?

Rip off, especially as our local Council does not provide a recycling collection service so we'd either have to cart our rubbish over 6 miles accross town to the Council Recycling
point (which would be overflowing) or get charged for disposing of it. Phooking cheek!!!

Stupid just plain stupid.

fine as long as they cut council tax too, i dont believe that smaller families should pay extra for the larger more wasteful family. microchips however are a step too far, i cant believe anyone would want to police my waste lol it would make far more sense to make people pay for their wheelie bin or sack collection like you pay the milkman lol

It's just another extra tax from the government. Just what the hell does our council tax pay for is what I would like to know.

as i live by myself and recycle quite a lot of my rubbish i think its a good idea because it will save me quite a lot of money.

Also its been proven to encourage recycling in every other country in europe so i think its a good idea.

Chuck it all on the F***ing street cu's if i have one more bill to deal with people are gonna get murdered

Don't get me started !!!!

I'm really angry over these proposals

utter rubbish,i am going to start having bonfires again

recycle and it wont cost

I heard on the radio yesterday that 拢120 would be taken off the council tax bill for each person to pay for the new charges.
Recycle more pay less.

Unfair. The less scrupulous of neighbours will put their rubbish in yours, thus ensuring they get to pay less, and you end up paying more. Besides, isn't that what we pay council tax for?

When the UK had underground coal mines, we had no problems finding places to dump our rubbish. They're all full. So are the gravel pits and chalk quarries. We've run out of places to dump the stuff. We've got to do something about the problem, but I don't think charging more money will solve it. People will just chuck their rubbish in the street

I think we already pay too much property tax to collect our trash. Why don't we create incentives for the packaging industry to change their habits?

We do it in my city, the system works well. People recycle more, utilize green been, blue binds and yard bags. The amount of waste produced by the city is dropping rapidly.

My city uses pre-paid waste sacks to cover the cost of waste collection. They are yellow, pitifully weak, and very noticeable when people pull their roll cart to the side of the road filled with loose refuse. They fill their roll cart and tie a roll-cart sized bag to the handle. I think it's atrocious because they obviously are "cheating the system".

I think these are fair proposals, always provided that my council tax is abated by the element previously calculated to cover refuse collection.

This is the same principle as the earlier suggestion that the Road Fund Licence should be abolished, and an appropriate amount be added to the price of petrol/diesel.

By doing this, those who use more, pay more. Equally, those who use less, pay less.

If council tax is reduced significantly then I think its great idea to get people to think about what they are throwing out. However, if we're still going to pay ridiculous taxes then...well lets say no one will be happy.

Utter Rubbish , the system will never work , there are so many problems , that can not be sorted out

People share bins , others dump there rubbish into others

The only thing this will do , is increase fly tipping , and the new sport of wheelie watching , and on bin day there could be the weekly match , two people fighting over rubbish
