I owed child support, for 10 years I claimed it wasnt my child recently it was removed? WHY?

after 10 years 30,000 in back child support is removed, and I am vindicated.. I no longer owe anybody anything! The state claims all collections have ceased and the balance i owe is $0.

I would like to know if anyone can explain why money they said I owed which I knew I didnt was vacated from record without any action on my part?

Did they figure it out after 10 years that it REALLY wasnt my kid like i said for 10 years? any ideas?

My DNA is recently on file

I didnt pay support because I knew it wasnt my child.. I was in the military and came home and she was already a few weeks pregnant

The court might have ordered a DNA test on the child. If your DNA is on file with the military, it could have been compared...and found out you are not the father.

Good for you for holding tight.

Hey Indicaz I hope you see this. Congrats on your victory. I'm glad someone was able to triumph over one of the lying money grubbing sl-ts of the world. I'm especially glad that it was a soldier. Report It

If the state was involved, they probably made her do a DNA test. Do they have a sample of your DNA on file? Did you go to jail for owing that much at any point?

Most likey they found out who the real father is.

So you went ten years without paying support or bothering to find out if it was your kid. Nice.

u know what, that could be the reason. but that's sad if you never requested a DNA test at all. i mean having a hunch is one thing, but having proof is another.. it could've saved u and both the child alot of heartache. can u imagine if it was ur kid and u let child support ride out like that for 10yrs w/out paying anything!!! now that's sad.. what u need to do is contact the courts and verify why instead of guessing. u still need to make sure that the child is not urs

Too little information.

no you need to check into this because in the state of Georgia they are going back 20-30 years on child support. I know this because my 55 year old father owed my mom 11,000 in back child support and he thought he was cleared. He wasn't, another agency for the state stepped in and locked him up on after20 years of him thinking his slate was wiped clean...So check it out more so you don't get locked up for an old issue.

Circumstances change and the truth finally got told.

Whether you are "vindicated" or not is no call for celebration. You should hang your head in shame for allowing a child that could have been yours to go without for 10 years. You should have been man enough to request a DNA to determine that you were not the father. Knowing it in your head did not feed that child. Had you done the right thing and proved the child was not yours, the mother (whose morals I question as well) could have then located the real father and collected support for the innocent child.

Weren't you at all curious to know if it could have been your child?
I suspect that the child's mother knew who fathered the child from the start. If she didn't, she would have been hauling your butt to court on a regular basis and you would indeed have been incarcerated at some point.
Support charges don't magically disappear. Perhaps she finally confronted the man who actually was responsible.
In any case, I'm glad you can finally sleep well at night.

I would call and ask.
Also it strikes me as odd, why is your DNA on file with FOC? It would surprise me that they would cross-reference that information when they are commonly short of time and staff.
I checked in my state a long while back and if you are sure the child isn't yours you can request a DNA test and you only have to pay for it if the child is yours. So you could have requested it years ago. I would call FOC and find out what happened just to be sure.
