I'm compiling a collection of old family photos, is there anyway I can add a music track without getting sued? yes you can add a track, but you should buy the music at the store or off line, don't download it. once it is yours, you can do what you want with it, as long as it is for YOU. you can give the cd of pictures etc. to others, just don't file share it on the internet. the companies aren't going after people who have shared a song or two, it is after the people who have shared THOUSANDS. If you intend to distribute your compilation to the general public (especially if you are selling it), then you need to get what's called a mechanical license (or sync license) for the music to do this. |
