Should prostitution be legalized? I think so, but not because i agree with it...?

Does anyone else agree with me that we should legalize prostitution not because it is morally the right thing to do ( i don't think it is) but because it is a market- like drugs- where the demand can NEVER be stopped because of human nature...and that if it were legalized, like in parts of NV, we could implement laws requiring STD checks of prostitutes, tax collections/ brothel fees, etc? I have watched the HBO series CatHouse and I believe that this controlled environment ends up helping everyone in the end. If prostitution continues to be illegal in most parts of the country, i believe firmly that the spread of disease, violence, etc will continue. Not to mention that if we legalize it we could keep them off the streets, as they'd be required to either operate in a brothel of some sort. So if you're like me and you don't agree with prostitution, you can simply drive right by the brothel and not go inside...no one else is negatively impacted.

Anyone else think this makes sense?

the difference with rapes and murders is that these crimes harm INNOCENT people, and therefore the person who commits these crimes should be justly punished.

Prostitution only deals with the client and the prostitute (it does not affect an innocent person). Well it could, if you were like Spitzer's wife. But what if you are a wealthy, but fat, 65 year old man, you are single, and you want a 25 year woman? The only way to get that would be to pay for it...because no 25 year old woman is going to want to have sex with a fat 65 year old guy consensually...the man would have to pay for it to receive the service.

For God's Sake. It's NOT ILLEGAL federally speaking. Our founding fathers had no problems with the occassional BJ on the side, or otherwise.

The problem is the state's laws. Each state has the right to legislate their own laws. That's why it's legal in Nevada.

Nevada, just happens to be one of the last states that still believes in FREEDOM!!!!!!!!

Ummm... wats the matter?
Cant get a gf?

Makes sense to me. But when did the government do anything that made sense.

I have Feeling Only Other Guys Will Agree On this. But yah What She said You cant Get a Girlfriend.

Ya ya and ya BUTTTTT
the sexually repressed North American politicians won't, why see the fuss Spitzer has caused in the media...
Most women will object the married ones anyway,,,
It makes common sense we could tax it control the uncontrollable we know it will never go away and why do you think they call it the oldest profession...
It's like the study nixon did on drugs and it recommended he legalze mary jane what did he do he formed the super drug agency and went to town destroying more peoples lives...

I think the only reason this question is posted by you here and now is because Spitzer, a democrat, got busted for prostitution. Lets see, would your definition of prostitution have included 'foot tapping' about 6 months ago? Would you have said that Larry Craig should have been sparred the punishment he received? I don't bet often but I'd bet you weren't as willing to allow 'foot tapping' 6 months ago as you are willing to allow prostitution today.

its like, just because they keep happening lets legalise murders, theft, rapes etc etc.

Do you know
They are the drains where all evils throw their water
if this will stopped than where they throw the water
and Rape cases will be increased
So I think they must be legalised

Prostitution isn't much different than dating.
1. You are going to have to spend money anyway.
2. At least both people are up front on what they want.
3. If it is consensual.. who cares.
4. Should be monitored for STD's etc.
5. What is the difference between porn or strip clubs and prostitution? Seems as if all are about selling yourself out.
