I recieved a summons for debt collection can i stop garnishment if i agree to use a debt consolidation company

If you received a summons, it means a court action has been filed against you. You, or someone on your behalf, will need to contact the creditor to see if you can arrange for some kind of settlement in order to have the creditor withdraw the petition. My guess is that they've made several attempts to collect by now. I don't know if a debt consolidation company will be able to do anything with respect to the lawsuit. You or your attorney could call the creditor and perhaps make arrangements for them to accept a reduced amount. The creditor may agree to take periodic payments until the debt is satisfied.
