My boyfriend gave me an MP3 player with songs on it from his personal collection. Is this considered piracy? |
The MP3 player was given to me as a gift for my birthday a couple of years ago by my boyfriend. The songs he put on it are from his own personal CD collection, which were all legally purchased, nothing illegally copied or downloaded. We have no broken up and he is insisting that I delete all the music off the player because he is afraid that he could be arrested. Is this really something he needs to be concerned about? I don't plan on selling or distributing the music, only listening to it. In this case it is unlikey you will be liable for a suit. The intention for the lawsuits were to stop people from downloading music from the internet....if he bought a cd downloaded it on a mp3 player and just happen to give it to you...it is unlike you would be sued...if he got them from filesharing on the internet...then yes delete them, otherwise enjoy. lol , realistically neither of you are going to be arrested , Id actually bet my house on it! He is stupid make sure you tell him that too. And hopefuly this should remind you why you are no longer with him. No, I would call this sweet, except for the part he wants them taken off. lol, is he serious???? There is nothing illegal about putting your personal music on your mp3 player. Glad you guys broke up since he's a total moron. Good thing you're not dating that paranoid ***** anymore. Tell him you have deleted the songs, but keep listening to them, you'll be fine. |
