They will ruin your credit by reporting your failure to the major credit bureaus; they may bring a lawsuit to collect the debt, including filing liens on your real and personal property; they may have you do a debtor's exam, and if it's bad enough, they may force you into bankruptcy. It takes a mark off your credit/fico score. Be cautioned, many collection agencies are now tagging interest rates to these debts. So if you're not disputing the debt and you're not currently paying it, it may be getting bigger by the month. |
