I just got summoned to court by some collection people I don't want to go. What should I do?

I have tried to work with these people and then they do this I don't know what to do please help.....

This is a civil court, yes? They will get a judgment for the amount they are suing for. They can then try to garnish your wages or try to take some of your assets to satisfy the judgment depending on the laws in your state. If you are not working or have no assets then they can hold the judgment for a specified amount of time to try to get money from you and can have it renewed or extended in some states.
You do not have to go to the civil hearing, but if you don't, they will get whatever they ask for.
Bankruptcy usually annuls any judgments depending on how much you own.

Whatever you decide to do, go or not, you just have to weigh the possible loss they could cause you versus the likelihood that you have a defense.

If you got served, then you better go. If not, you will automatically forfeit your case...

If you do not appear, the other party may obtain a default judgment against you, causing you credit problems. Also, they may try to garnish your wages and attach your bank account.

You must respond, either In Pro Per or with an attorney.

Good luck!

um.. yea you should go or you will get into some trouble. my mom didn't go and she paid for it...GO!!!!!!

At this point, you have to have an attorney or be familiar with court procedure to get the court to grant an extension. If you don't go, you will get a judgment ruled against you, with the terms the a_holes proposed to the judge.

You have to go....if a large amount contact a lawyer

If you have been summoned to go to court, you have to go. Depending on what type of case it is(i.e. civil), the judge could issue a bench warrant on you if you do not show up.
If it is civil and you don't show, then the judge will rule in favor of the plaintiffs (collection people) and you will have to pay the money no matter what.

pretty simple; pick 1

(1) Pay if off before the court date
(2) go to court, lose a judgement and have liens, garnishments in place
(3) Skip court, and have a default judgement entered with everything in (2) + the possiblilty of a bench warrant for your arrest for Failure to appear.

you need to go, while you can not be placed in jail for failing to repay monies owed, you can be thrown in jail for failure to appear at a court order hearing,

just go explain you do not have the monies available and you are not trying to hide your assets, a judgment will be issued against you but if you do not have assets a judgment means nothing
