Capitol One has been harassing me concerning debt collection of a nonfamiliar person. Can I take legal action?

I spoke to the debt collector, and she told me that my number was In "the system." They have been calling my cell phone very frequently, and I am unable to contact someone to get them to stop.

Contact your state's Attorney Generals office and find out what you need to do to get them to stop. You might want to mention that you are going to do it the next time they call (and really do it). Get as much contact information as you can from the person calling you, they are required to provide it to you.

if possible can you change your cell number. it might be worth the aggravation of giving out your new number. but more importantly-does capital one have your social security number? cause if so kiss your credit rating good bye. even if its not your debt. it will take forever to work it out with them.

Look up their mailing address and formally send them a letter to cease the calls. if they continue you have several choices , but the cheapest is to just have your cell provider change your cell number.
