County pays homeless man $10,000 in civil suit? |
My county is stupid. In their attempt to stop something, they didn't think it through and now look what happened. This is beyond ridiculous, but by the books, the guy has rights. Do you think it's time to go down to city hall and check some credentials? Geez. exactly...if these ding dongs had the knowledge to examine the laws, they would have created the ordinance to reflect that. But instead, we are paying a homeless guy because of it. I could almost deal with the 14th Amendment issue. Although then they could have just fixed the ordinance. However to claim that the 1st Amendment protects panhandling is stupid. I'm not saying against the man's lawyer either, I'm talking about the Courts that ruled it. I don't see how panhandling is what was meant by the free speech of the 1st Amendment. |
