Inmate's rights being violated? HELP!!!? |
While my brother has been in jail he has been precribed medication by the er doctor at the hospital for gout and high blood pressure. He was moved from one jail to another on the 18th of this month and is awaiting possible extradition. They refuse to give him his med's but will only give him tylenol and his knee has swollen up from the gout and he is in terrible pain (also sleeping on the floor) because of overcrowding. I can't get any where with his public defender (except ignored) and I have told him and also left messages that my brother needs to see him. He has not gone to talk with him and didn't even show up in court yesterday. I plan on talking to a lawyer. My question is what kind of lawyer would I talk to? Would I refer to this as his civil rights? Also does he have to go through the grievance procedures before i get a lawyer? By the way I am his power of attorney. I desperately need some advise on this matter, quick. Email me if you need to. Thanks so much! I forgot to mention that the jail had him mail his medicines to my address. Honestly, if it's not a life or death situation no one will represent him or care. I'm not being mean here, just straight with you. He would have to get in line with a million other inmates that have medical problems. God lord...how terrible, you must get a lawyer and sue the hell out of them. I presume your brother is Innocent UNTIL prov-en guilty. |
