What would you do in this situation? Be Honest!? |
You are interviewing a very capable female applicant for a job as a salesperson who deals with some of your best customers. She is much better qualified than the men you just interviewed. Nevertheless, you know that many of these customers prefer dealing with men, and you are certain that you will lose some sales if you hire her. What would you do? Keep in mind Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. Be honest? If this woman knows her stuff, then it is possible that she will be able to win over those men who think they must deal with only men! I feel that most people want to deal with a person who knows the business rather than one who is weak in knowledge. honestly, i would hire the guy, money talks, and thats bottom line, and she being so qualified won't have a problem getting a job, you yourself may have another position better suited for her.....Its all in the P & L's If she obviously is the best candidate, hiring her would more than make up for lost sales because of her sex. She'll probably get that share of the business back and then some. And you'll feel better doing it that way. Honestly, I'd hire the person who I thought could sell more of the product. If my customers prefer a man, then who am I to disagree? The customer is always right, right? if many of the customers prefer dealing with men,how exactly will you lose some sales by hiring her? this ? is very confusing! Realistically, if I thought she would cause the company to lose money, I wouldn't hire her. i would hire her and another few men so that i would make better sales. also, i fyou want, you could give her less pay I'll do whatever I need to do that's best for my business. I really don't need the government telling me who to hire. She is obviously not the best person for the job if your clients like dealing with men better. Why would men feel more comfortable having a male as a store clerk? She might make a good secretary. |
