Political rights???? |
I have searched Google about political rights in the US. I don't know a good website that will help me identify what some of the political rights are in the United States (I have found a lot on Civil and Social rights, but not on political rights specifically). Thanks. I am doing a paper in Sociology and it asks what are five rights each in Political, social, and civil rights. In the book it says social rights are like welfare, unemployment, civil rights are freedom of speech and religion, and I'm fuzzy on what political rights mean: like rights to participate in elections, run for office, etc. But that is all it gives. I'm not sure how you differentiate civil rights from social rights and political rights. All the laws that we have in this country which guarantee an individual's freedom from government (and sometimes private) coercion are considered civil rights. that's because rights aren't given so to speak based on ones political outlook. Read the constitution - free elections, term limits for president, protest, petition, voting, etc. |
