Violation of civil rights?

I am giving a persuasive speech in which I explain how the Homeland Security Act and the Patriot Act is a violation of civil rights. I need to deeper explanation on each and in which rights a distinctly violated.

Also I hear that in the Homeland Security the president could gain control over the U.S in case of any national emergency. Here is the website and plz let me know if its true check 2b to be more specific thanks!

You might try reading 2e. Also read 3.

This document does NOT support your position.

what a loaded question. having not read the linked press release, it is true that the president exercises broad commander-in-chief powers under Art II of the Constitution, particularly in a national emergency, and there are certain liberties that are evaded to attain 'safety', but this doesn't necessarily equate to total domination of the united states...just broader powers.
