Can someone read over my essay and tell me how to fix it?

Two men who had a big influence on civil rights were Henry David Thoreau, and Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. They both believed in standing up for what they believed in, and disobeying unjust laws. Although they were disobeying unjust laws, they still were disobeying Laws, which is why both men suffered consequences from the law. Thoreau spent a night in jail for not paying a poll tax, which he didn鈥檛 pay because of his opposition to the Mexican 鈥揂merican War. Meanwhile, Dr.MLK was arrested for 鈥渕arching without a permit鈥? He was charged with that because the police couldn鈥檛 arrest him for anything else. He created a peaceful protest so it was very hard to charge him with anything more than that.
Although they didn鈥檛 go to jail for the exact same reason, I believe that that they were portraying the same general message. One I idea that they both support is their main belief, which is Disobeying unjust laws. Thoreau simply stated in his 鈥淐ivil Disobedience鈥?鈥渄o not obey unjust laws鈥? while Dr.MLK said in his 鈥淟etter to Birmingham鈥? 鈥渦njust law is a power the majority compel the minority to obey鈥? These two statements show that the two men thought that some laws were made to be broken, just as Dr.MLK said in his 鈥淟etter to Birmingham鈥? who will willingly accept the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscious of community over its injustice鈥? Another important idea these two men believed in is that majority rule does not necessarily mean equality. This is portrayed in Thoreau 鈥淐ivil Disobedience鈥?, when he said 鈥渕ajorities should not decide what is right or wrong, but conscious鈥? while the same idea was portrayed in Dr.MLK鈥檚 鈥淟etter to Birmingham鈥?when he said that 鈥済roups tend to be more immoral than individuals鈥? These Ideas are similar because they both believe that majorities should have power to choose the laws, but the laws must be fair to those who have different beliefs. These are two main points of similarities between Thoreau and Dr.Martin Luther King.
Although King and Thoreau have many similarities, their ideas also conflicted in a few ways. After examining both letters, I realized the biggest conflict between the two men concerns how much government there should be. Thoreau believes in no government, as he said in his 鈥淐ivil Disobedience 鈥渁s, 鈥済overnment is best when governs least鈥? King on the other hand believes in having a government, but having a fair one. King always speaks of equality and fairness when it comes to laws. For Example, he believes that when the constitution said 鈥渁ll men are created equal鈥? that it meant all men, not just white men. He believes that all people are interconnected in some way. This idea, which portrayed in his 鈥淟etter to Birmingham鈥?when he said, 鈥淲e are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny鈥? Their Ideas are different because Thoreau believes that government is not part of mans nature; King believes that humans need government to control society, but the government must be fair and equal to all men regardless of skin color.
In conclusion, these two men both wrote letters that inspired many people. They influenced change in the world, and created an idea of fighting for justice. They had many similarities in their works but also had one major difference. They built the foundation of the Civil Rights Movement, and many movements to come. Thoreau and King wrote these letters for the same purpose, which is to educate the people that just because it is a law, it doesn鈥檛 make it fair. Thanks to these ideas any law that tries to enter the constitution is looked at deeply. That is why I think these were two of the greatest writers in civil rights history.

btw its a compare and contrast essay between Thoreau and Dr.martin luther kink jr.

I think that this "compare and contrast" type of essay is very good. I just had to write this type of essay myself. I don't consider myself to be all too great when it comes to essay writing, but I am trying to learn how to write better essays. The only things that I thought may not be quite right is that I think there's a misplaced capitol I when it says " One I idea that they both support is their main belief, which is Disobeying unjust laws, also I think Disobeying shouldn鈥檛 be capitalized. Also, 鈥済overnment is best when governs least鈥? maybe should read "government is best when it governs least"? Lastly, instead of "King always speaks of equality and fairness when it comes to laws." Maybe it should say, "King always spoke of equality and fairness when it came to laws." I may be wrong on these suggestions, but I did learn some things from reading your essay which in my opinion was well written. So thanks.

Very Good
but you can use a few other people also in your essay !
and remember
''truth not heard is where truth is denied, and upon no justice is given ,,
I think you did fine Just add a few more people like Lincoln,
I give you a star to put your feeling out in the open like this very brave soul you have ,,

Ok... For the most part... It is very well written and you have very good spelling...

These are things that will help you out though...

Put a space between Dr. and Martin and also MLK
Try not to use his initials when writing essays... Makes it look lazy. Try calling him Dr. Martin or Martin instead... But don't over use them either...
You have one spelling mistake and that is where you have a quote and it says "marching compel" it should say marching compels
And then my Microsoft Word says that this sentence here is a fragment. "This idea, which portrayed in his 鈥淟etter to Birmingham鈥?when he said, 鈥淲e are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny鈥?
And also in that same sentence... The quotes around Letter to Birmingham I think hould be only a single quote like this 'Letter To Birmingham' instead of the regular...

Thats about it really... If anyone else can find better ideas to throw in let them... I'm telling you mine... So either take it or leave it...

It is interesting that you have not differentiated between
unjust laws,and invalid laws.Unjust laws are subjective,where
invalid laws are objective,in that they are invalid, because they
violate the Codified Rules of Governance, such as the
American Constitution and the BIll of Rights in America, and
the Australian Constitution and the Seventeen Statutes Of Westminster in Australia. Moreover, you use the word
government as if it were an entity,or identity, which it is not.
There are systems of government, and if any system of
government does not have any Codified Rules that limits the
authority of the State, then it should be avoided as if it were
the plague.Democracy,is a system of government that originated in Greece, and it does not have any Codified Rules,it is simply, Rule by a majority, without any other
considerations,which has,does now,and will always result in
Despotism.
Finally, whilst I could rewrite your essay enhancing it,and
reducing the text by at least 15 percent,I will decline.
However,I will suggest that you consider not repeating the
same word, when there is a synonym available. For example,
the word non-compliance could be substituted for
disobedience. You would benefit also if did not misuse such
words as: spent, just, biggest, greatest and charged to name a few.You could substitute the word 'significant', for 'big' in
the first sentence.
