Should the ACLU be demonized if they support the civil liberties of those who oppress and murder?

Since I am a nut job and do not fully understand the full scope of the ACLU and because of my ignorance and unwarranted demonization of an organization who supports the enhancement of the civil liberties that I would have been thrown in jail for if it would not have been for their concern for my rights....please explain to my ignorant mind why while in the CIS (Iraq and Afghanistant, uzebekistan, etc) those that the ACLU expresses deep concern for their civil rights were slaughtering innocent villagers becausethose villagers did not share the same intelligent outlook....as a civilian logistics consultant and being caught in these "disagreements between those who are right and those poor unintelligent who were not armed" and these were two of the first plane load of C-17's that were loaded and flown to Guantanomo Bay - where I am missing the boat ...??? My apologies for my ignorance and I am waiting to learn from those who are intellectuals...

I'm not sure, but that might be the longest sentence ever. I don't really know what your getting at or what your point is.

The ACLU should be abolished. From its socio-political actions, it shows itself as an extremist, radical, left-wing, marxist organization.

The ACLU is an arm of the UN and both should leave the USA. They can take PETA along.

It says in the preamble to the constitution that all people are equal and we have equal protection under the law. The ACLU takes on unpopular causes but they promote and protect our freedom. It appears that you are upset that they are involved in the defense of servicemen who are being charged for atrocities.
The ACLU has nothing to do with Iraq or Afghanistan.
The Bush administration is eroding our important freedoms and placing the president unaccountable to the nation. Illegal wiretaps, secret detention centers, torture in the name of freedom?
Go ahead and hate on the ACLU but you should be thankful someones watching your back and protecting your liberties. I'll bet if the stormtroopers came and hauled you off to a secret facility to be held indefinitly without being charged, you'd wish someone was fighting for your freedom.

That is a mess of a question. Use good grammar much?

Obviously, you don't believe in the constitution since, like it or not, that's what the ACLU tries to look after. You may not like people it defends, but we are after all supposed to be a country that follows the rule of law and due processes. It doesn't matter what one is accused of or actually did-- the whole point of our constituional rights is to ensure, the the extent we can, that people are afforded fair treatment and dealt with under the rule of law.

Did you ever consider that maybe some of those people rounded up may acutally be innocent? Nah, we don't make mistakes in these situations do we?

Gee, for people who are all about waving the flag and freedom and all that jazz-- you sure don't seem to want to uphold the principles that the flag and our country is all about.

The ACLU does do some good work, but the problem many people have is they tend to be one sided. They pick and choose the rights they want to defend, which generally tend to be very left issues. This is not to say they don't, at times, attempt to protect those on the right, but usually, it's left. Much of their agenda is regarding Gay Rights, Against the entanglement of religion with the state (typically against religion), and sometimes racism (generally for affirmative action). Because of their main causes the Right often demonizes them.
