1)The Grant's house is being purchased by the county for a new highway. Their attorney is suing the county for more money.

2) Jeff made a presentation to the American civil liberties union on rights of juveniles.

3) Mr. Smith and Mr. Jones go to court to settle and argument over a tree that is on Mr. Smith's yard but hangs over Mr. Jone's new cement driveway

4)Senator Russell argued that the federal government has no right to control marijuana sales since the right is not mentioned in the constitution.

5) Before George is arrested for stealing, the evidence is reviewed by the local county grand jury. They decide there is sufficient evidence for arrest.

# 1 ... This must be an old text book, because the US Supreme Court ruled that local authorities have the right to seize private property for anything they please, and to pay the old owners what they think the property is worth. You cannot sue US government cities, counties, school boards, etc. without their permission.

# 2 ... Jeff's opinions, everyone has opinions. Juveniles have darn few rights.

# 3 ... People are held accountable for trees that grow out of their property. If it gets blown over in the wind storm and damages someone else's property, or if a bird is singing in the tree, and does the bathroom on someone underneath, the person underneath can hold the property owner responsible for the bird.

However, going to court over this kind of stuff is a way to waste money, because court costs will be much heavier than any cleaning bill.

# 4 Senator Russell is not in America, because such an opinion will not get anyone elected to Congress.

# 5 This is normal practice, but if the police catch someone in the act, they don't need to wait on grand jury.
