Have there ever been CIVIL ACTION suits against the government itself? |
Reading so much about legal aspects, it's made me wonder if there have been CIVIL ACTION SUITS against the U.S. government itself. 1. This happens often. There are more civil suits against the federal government than anyone else. You can only sue a legal entity, such as a person or a corporation. A government is not such a legal entity. You have to sue the agency or the person in charge of the agency, and that person might be immune from suit. There are a few exceptions where the government (state or federal) has agreed to be sued directly, but those are rare. |
