Which rights, guaranteed in the Bill of Rights, do you enjoy the most?


Which amendment, guaranteed in the United States Bill of Rights is the most significant liberating right for you? And why? In other words, which right in the Bill of Rights do you most enjoy? Remember to back up your opinions, and be serious.

If you need a reference= BILL OF RIGHTS AMENDMENTS:
1 Freedom of religion, press, speech, and peaceful assembly
2 You are allowed to own a weapon with a license unless you are a felon or a mental patient
3 You don't have to house soldiers of war, unless you really want to
4 No unlawful searches or seizures without probable causes or search warrants
5 You don't have to testify against one's best interest
6 You have the right to a free and speedy trial
7 You can be protected in a civil case through a jury
8 No cruel and unusual punishments; the punishment must fit the crime
9 Certain rights shall not be used to deny or criticize other people
10 The powers not given by the Constitution to the U.S.govt remains to the states and the people

Definitely the first amendment.

Freedom of speech, for the right to dissent without being jailed for it.

You'll notice peaceful assembly is now monitored, press is now corporate, people still wait months for a "speedy" trial, and other infringements have been in place or worsened since 9/11.

I thought the Patriot Act took care of a few of those :/

The most frequently and widely abused - the Ninth, which is actually:
"The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."

IOW, the fed.gov was given only specific powers and cannot use those granted to regulate the people in any way which restricts their natural rights as a free independent individual, or as has been recorded in court opinion, the people who are "sovereigns without subjects with none to govern but themselves".

But I consider every one of the first ten amendments pretty equally important and also disagree with your interpretation of the second as there are no such qualifiers in that amendment. It actually states "shall not be infringed" and it's not that people are allowed by the government to have rights, it's the exact opposite - these things exist without government, but a government is a necessary evil, so these are things which specifically the government was exempted from have control of in order to preserve individual freedom, liberty, etc. and ensure that said government did not become oppressive, tyrannical, etc.
How sucessful the Founders were in accomplishing this goal is debatable depending upon ones' view, but the people still retain the right to change, dissolve, abolish or replace entirely the form and structure of their various governments. Even if that does violate the "Homegrown Terrorism" bill, it is still Constitutionally valid.
