Can somone help me with my homework?

ok so my assignment is based on Civil Rights and Terrorism. Well, in our class we were put into two groups. One group was going to debate about having kept all of the civil rights after 9/11. On the other hand, the other group is going to debate about having taken some of the rights away to protect further terrorist attacks. Well wha i need help is that i need some strong arguments that i could use against them. Can somone give me like specific arguements against the other group. For example i can talk about the Patriot Act which has affected a lot of Americans. Also someone can tell me the Pro's of the Patriot Act. Help me out with this please. Tomorrow is going to be the debate so please help me come up with strong arguments against them. Thanks and please give me a strong answer. For the best answer, i will give them 10 points! Thanks

It is not clear from your question which side of the debate you need to be on.

A lot of the terrorism problem is one of our own making.
During the Cold War with the Soviets, we basically ran roughshod over the rest of the world, because we did not have the freedom in that war to be considerate of other people's feelings. Now that the Cold War is over, the other victims are supporting terrorists trying to get even for the really bad stuff we did.

But there's also false education. We are getting blamed for stuff that is not our responsibility. Like the Crusades by Europeans trying to get Christianity back in control of the lands where Christianity was born. How is that the fault of anyone other than Europeans?

By leaving your research to the nite before the debate, and asking your questions here, you have guaranteed you will not do well in the debate tomorrow. This is a big subject, important to study in detail.

There are web sites of government agencies entrusted with the job of protecting the people. You can find out a lot about the threats from there.

There's also detailed history about what has happened, and continuing threats. Have you read the report of the 9-11 commission? They had a ton of public hearings that were aired on C-Span. Did you watch any of them?

I have also read the investigations of how Pearl Harbor happened. I see a lot of parallels between that an 9-11 in that if we had been paying attention we should have seen it coming, and stopped it.

For example, there was the hijacking of Air France where the pilot was ordered to fly the plane into the Eiffel Tower. Both pilot and co-pilot, even with gun to head, refused to do so. The lesson of this should have been:
* terrorists want to fly hijacked airlines into national monuments
* they will be training their own pilots ... watch out for suspcious training efforts

This was but one warning ... there were many others, that our powers that be chose to disregard and ignore

There are web sites of civil rights organizations like ACLU. You can learn a lot about threats to our freedom from the government there.

In my opinion,
* If Civil Rights have to be taken away from everyone, then the Terrorists have won. There's several ways they can win, this is one way, cause the nation to change so it is no longer the nation it was before they started attacking.
