Should Action Be Taken About the Abuse of "Abuse"?

Americans have a civil right that is called Freedom of Speech. Yahoo Answers has a rule that two complaints causes a post to be deleted. Of course, they want to use this as a way to keep profanity, obscenity, etc., off these forums. Unfortunately, this is not the way members are using the Deletion process.

They are using the "Abuse" key as a weapon against anyone who disagrees with them either politically or in religious matters.

This is clearly against the civil rights of all Americans. It is stifling the political and religious views of other people, denying them their right to Freedom of Speech. Any complaint about this only results in a form letter.

Perhaps an attorney should be consulted, and Yahoo Answers explain their lack of control over these forums. I am saving a copy of every post of mine that has been deleted and I ask that everyone who has a deleted post save a copy. I am also saving posts that DO use profanity and obscenity and are NOT deleted.

Great question. I find it amusing when people try to just blame it on yahoo guidleines when it is actually yahoo users using the abuse option to get the question deleted in the first place. I think yahoo should change the policy and make it harder for fascists to delete questions and answers just because they disagree with the views stated.

The people who say too bad are probably the same people reporting our questions and answers in order to get them removed. They prove themselves to be un-american and opposed to civil liberties like free speech.

I'll start keeping copies of my questions and answers that are removed. If we can force yahoo to change the policy we should do so, so that anyone using this site from any nation on the planet can see free speech at work instead of the hypocrisy that is presently on display.

yes I am sick of nonsense

I firmly agree with you.
We can all agree to disagree.
Why shouldn't we all have a voice?

uh....I'm always amazed at the number of people who don't understand that Yahoo forums are not "Public", but private; you subscribe and agree to obey the T/S; and they reserve the right to treat questions and answers as they see fit.
If you want to post things contrary to their T/S, you have perfect freedom to buy a server and a domain and put anything up you like; and treat the responses in the manner consistant with your aims and goals.

You have a lot of time on your hands don't you?

Look, if someone reports a post that does not violate Yahoo rules then you have the right to appeal. You get a form letter response and are told how to have your appeal review. If you take the time to do that, then Yahoo reads your post and responds. I've done it. You get your points back and there's no more issue.

If you don't like the way this forum is run, you don't have to use it! Now that's true freedom.

Yahoo Answers has it's own rights to have what it wants to have represented on it's website. If they choose a policy to determine how they want things on their website to be modified, then they can. If they choose to eliminate your answer, they can. This is not a US website. It is world wide.
It is personal property.
I dont have a right to protest in your house, why do you have a right to say something they dont like on their website.

Yes i agree, If your reported yahoo sends you a email without even bothering to look at what you wrote in response to a question. I appealed and heard nothing from yahoo.

My God don't you have anything else to do. This is nothing more than entertainment...and hopefully helpful to those that ask. You need to get out of the house more. I love this site...and it's like anything else...t.v. , radio..whatever...don't like it...turn it off!!!

yes thats a good point but how else do you control the comments and imformation that some people write .. as in politics , if you want to change something you have to come up with a sensible alterative and what is sensible for some isnt for others . if you want to put your own views out there i geuss you make a web site or call me and i know of a way to set up your own vidio email live on line i just found it today

I just posted a question about one of my answers being deleted yesterday.

It's not Yahoo, it's the yahoos using Yahoo.

You will never get rid of people who will go out of their way to annoy those of us who are right.

The Fascists know they are in the moral wrong, and so their pettiness keeps them warm at night.

I agree AND disagree with you. Yahoo Answers is private and you agree with their rules before your first post. No different than any other "contract" you sign. You would be wasting time and money trying to get any "legal" satisfaction. Problem I have is when you appeal a decision, you rarely get any answer except a "copy and paste" of the Community Guidelines saying they decided you violated them. I read a question that was nothing more than a bunch of letters thrown together with no actual words include. I answered by telling the member he would need to restate his/her question to get an answer. I got reported for not answering the question. After 3 appeals, I gave up because it was obvious the people working in the appeals department would not take the time to read the original question. Bottom line, if you are not happy here, leave here.
