Is denying felons licensure/certification a practice, or legality?

I know that felons lose certain civil rights.I'm on probation for a year for grand theft(six months left), and want to become a CNA. I know I have to get certified by the Florida Board of Health, but when I call them, I can get no certain answers...they say they may or may not certify someone on probation, depends on the case and the details...when looking at their site, the basic gist is that they may certify you, but even if they do, you may not be able to get a job. The company that does the testing for it says that "if you don't have civil rights restored you will NOT get certified" on the application, but when I call them they sat this statement isn't certain either, it's just so applicants can be advised of the possibility. I would like to know if there is really a chance, or if this is just a well-orchestrated scheme to get my money (of which I don't have much)?.Anyone with certain knowledge, or experience?

Okay, thanks for at least letting us know what state you're from so we can help. Here's what I found:

The Office of Executive Clemency
2601 Blair Stone Road,Building C
Tallahassee,FL 32399-2450

Phone : 850 - 488 - 2952
Fax 850 - 488 - 0695
Email : Clemencyweb@fpc.state.fl.us

Write to these folks and explain your situation. Ask them if you can have your civil rights restored to you so you can find a job.
Good luck.

They may license you, but getting a job will be next to impossible. I have a 10 yr old felony drug charge, and it's destroyed my career in insurance. I can't even get hired at a restaurant. It's garbage.
