How it it possible for a Governor of Michigan to pass a law...?

That severly affects a persons civil rights? Without the people voting on it.She has caused all healthcare persons to be fingerprinted, fringerprints are our personal property...right? Seems like one step closer to "the mark of the beast" The FBI is scheduled soon to do this fingerprinting on EVERYONE! I e-mailed the ACLU and the media with no reply yet. What else can I do to protect my rights?

The state legislature can pass laws regulating the requirements for jobs that require state certification, jobs that are paid by the state, and any other job that the state feels necessary to regulate to protect the public. This includes healthcare professionals in pretty much every state. As long as the regulation they pass does not discriminate based on any protected attribute (age, gender, race, sexual preference, etc.), then it is legal.

As for your fingerprints being your personal property, that's not exactly a definitive line. The original prints, that are in your flesh, are yours and nobody can take those away from you. But, the prints that are left when you touch something are no longer your property. The Supreme Court has ruled that since you leave a print on everything you touch, then you have no expectation of privacy in relation to your fingerprints.

Many professions already require fingerprinting as a part of the job. It seems Michigan is just adding one to the list. Sorry, but it's not a violation of your civil rights.

Well, you can vote for Amway's candidate, and watch your state be turned into a pious theocracy! Is that better?

Its a job requirement. Its not a civil rights issue. If you get a government clearance, you get fingerprinted. If you work in a casino in Las Vegas, you get fingerprinted. If you work for the Post Office, you get fingerprinted.

Grow up. Why are you so threatened? Do you have a criminal past that you are hiding?

.

First of all, Governor Granholm can't pass any laws, she can only sign into law bills that the MI legislature has already passed. If someone believes that law is unconstitutional, then they should legally challenge it and the MI Supreme Court would have to decide the constitutionality of the law. I am unfamiliar with this law, why are health care workers now required to submit fingerprints? I don't think this law will be considered unconstitutional. I had to submit my fingerprints when I joined the Army and then again when I applied to join U.S. Customs. You might consider them your personal property, but they are also the easiest and quickest way to determine and verify your identity and to discover if you have any kind of criminal record.

The USA is becoming a police state. I see posts here from ex-felons that they can't even rent an apartment. It's getting tougher and tougher for those living at the margin to survive in this new world order.
People support these kind of laws because they believe it will protect them against criminals and unscrupulous health care operators.
I don't think there's anything you can do about it. The train has left the station.
