Today prisoners sued the Home Office because they were refused drugs in prison what about their victims?

Yet another Blair Human Rights cracker!!

What civil rights did their victims get.

Yet another wealth sharing gov scheme

When you read the replies of some of the do gooders to this question I wonder if it time we the tax paying reponsible people should say 'We do not want to pay for these scum bags anymore'

lets march somewhere with trumpets, banners and burning torches and when we get there, lets do something really outstanding

thats insane. cant wait for labour to f**k off

I know - next they'll be sueing the government because the imprisoned them or something!

Didn't anyone tell them that drugs are bad for them and they were actuallt doing them a favour?!?

What you are failing to realize is that they aren't going to win the case. Unfortunately, just because you take away someone else's rights you still get to keep most of your own. It's sad, but they do have the right to sue even if it's a open and shut case.

i don't agree they should have been allowed to sue but if they were on a program for methedene and this was withdrawn on going to prison then its wrong of the state to have done so,
hard turkey is not the best of cures no matter that the user is the one already taking ilegal drugs to get hooked

What drus are you talking about if you are referrign to legal drugs that the prisoners have a prescription for they are entitled to the drugs. If you are talking about illegal drugs then no they are not required for those

exactly. the fact that drugs are illegal seems to have been forgotten , they were forced to come off drugs , their human rights were abused. they dont care about the victims , believe me , i was a prison officer , they are extremely selfish

omg that takes the mick it really does $%'@*

Well I think if they ended up in prison for something and they happen to be an addict then going cold Turkey should be classed as part-punishment for whatever they were locked up for in the first place!

I say let them sue - if they pay the legal bill themselves. Why should my taxes pay for this cr@p. Shove 'em on bread and water for a month, take away their tv's and internet access and let them realise they are being punished, not in a friggin' holiday camp.

Lets hope they spend money they got on more drugs and the bastards all overdose and die. This country has really gone crazy.

Just because your in prison does not give anyone the right to refuse your medication. If you were in jail and you have a heart condition and the guards told you to suck it up would you not be mad??
Yes there are alot of scum in the prison system today, but until we can find a cheaper way to house every one of them, they still have the same medical rights as everyone else.

I think the world has gone stark,f*cking mad!!

It depends which drugs we are talking about. If they were `life-saving` drugs, because the inmates were ill, then one wonders why they were refused. If on the other hand, we are talking `illegal` drugs, then I think the inmates are just having a laugh, as they know very well that they are not allowed them.

Yes! Human rights again!! In the UK, crime pays!!!!

my view is if you violate a persons human rights by committing a crime against them then i think you should forfeit your own human rights. they have very little to complain about, they have a roof over their heads, three meals a day and access to a gym and free education. thats alot more than some of the ppl living free in this country get. they have their basic needs and anything else is a luxury.

the victims always suffer, why bother let them having any drugs. The whole point of going to prison is to suffer for the crime committed. This government stinks, spend the money on bringing back the death sentence, the prisons might not get so crowded with that as a deterrent.

I always thought prison was a punishment. It seems that Blair has given in to the PC brigade again. Could you imagine any other country paying drug addicts who are in prison because they were given cold turkey. For gods sake when are we going to realise that we have no deterrent to crime in this country. Bring back hanging. Give life and mean life. Have stocks in the streets for young yobs. How do we expect to teach discipline if there is no punishment. If you go to jail you should be put on cold turkey. You are costing me money being in jail why should I have to pay for your drugs as well. We are soft and we are getting a nation of yobs, violent thugs and robbers because the Blair government and now Dave "hug a hoodie" Cameron have no guts to stand up for the people in the street who want a decent life.
