Oh the patriot act is essential to the war on terror?

What does it violate the rights of cititzen then? I am just listening to the news. I guess the are conditioning us for our civil rights to be violated again. Any thoughts?

Yeah I agree. I am more likely to get hurt by a gang banger than a terrorist. I am more scared of bush et all than the terroists too. It is more than inconvienent it is a violation of rights. Once we start we cannot stop the machine of violations.

Apparently, the Patriot Act just allows the US Govt to spy on its citizens (phone-tapping, bank transaction audits, what library books you check out, 'un-American' comments).

Those people who claim to not mind giving up some civil rights, let me hear you say that when the govt decides it wants to enter your home 'just to make sure' everything is okay. It's 'for your own safety' of course.

But Bush Co. doesn't care anyway, they're just making sh*t up as they go.

When you allow the terrorist to alter your life style or cost you freedoms then they have won. The Bush administration is using terror to gain politically and I actually worry more about that then I do a terror attack.

How are your civil rights being violated? I'd really like to know because, personally, I would rather endure some inconveniences to preserve my safety and the safety of those who are close to me. I can't think of a single civil right of mine that is, or will be, violated by invoking the Patriot Act.

patriot act is nothing. it's a piece of paper. that's it. it's not like the u.s. government will do anything to anyone who goes against it. never have , never will. HELLO! who is watching our borders and how many shipments get searched? the muslims are watching our borders and only 2-3% of shipments get checked. now how safe do you feel?
