I think my last job is giving out some bad info to any new employers that might hire me what do i do?

I have a disability that was witnessed while i was at my last job and i was let go because of it.(I was a cook at this job). I was told that i was let go because i didnt follow orders though, which had nothing to do with my illness. That is what they are standing on right now to keep away from any legalities. i had a cdl and was driving trucks prior to that job with no problems, making good money, when someone told the dmv what was up, now this has all blown up. my last job is the only job i've had since 04' in my home state,so i Have to use them as a reference, i'm ex-navy and an aviation electrician, why should i have to go back to school when i have skills to work almost anywhere? my disability and me wanting my employers to know that i'm not always 100% has caused me to be unemployed and worse(without medication)only to be right back where i started. If i lie and get hurt i will be sued if i tell the truth i might not be hired at all. i was NOT evil to anyone and i know it.

If you have a disability it is illegal for the potential new employee to know and not hire you due to it. Sadly they can fire you for a reason other than that and still get away with it, but in the hiring and interviewing all they can ask is "can you do the job with minimal accommodations?" My advice is , don't mention it unless it comes up, you have the right to a job, they have the responsibility to work with you if you do have a disability.
I would aim for a job with a larger corporation, #1 because the more man power they have the easier it is to compensate for the time you are not 100%, #2 they are the first lawyers go after when there is a discrimination suit so they tend to mind there P's and Q's when it comes to fair hireing practices.
Lastly if you can prove that your previous employer is stopping others from hiring you , you may have something there. It is illegal for them to disclose anything other than yes you worked there, when you worked there and if you are rehireable. Again staying with larger corporations will solve this for the same reason above.

Good luck, dont let it get you down. There are employers out there that will hire you disability or not, based on your skill set. You sound as if you have some marketable skills and qualities.

Don't list the job on your applications. Problem solved.
