How come people can take our freedom of speach away? |
For instance, here on Yahoo Answers we don't actually have freedom of speech. I realize that it is its own "citizens" that censor "themselves", but it's not like the appeals system works. Also, I imagine this being an issue in many many places. I some what agree with Patrick G. He is correct in what the purpose and context of the Constitution is. However, I believe you mean in a general context and not just Yahoo Answers. Not a day goes by that this question in some form isn't asked. According to the Terms of Service you agreed to, you have a responsibility to stick to non-offensive and non-abusive behavior. Sorry to tell you, but you signed away your rights to Freedom of Speech when you signed up. What the heck did you want to say? You can't run into a federal building and yell "Bomb". A lot of this is entertainment. You have a right to not reply, or read anything that makes you react in a way that yahoo feels you need to be censored. My children don't have the right to swear to me. That's my constitution. Ask them. However they do, now, express themselves in a manner that makes me listen without creating hostility. Most cuss words are single syllables, because complex thought or language is not really possible when your cussing or trying to express disdain with anger. Peace. Yahoo is a PRIVATE CORPORATION, they are not forced to follow the Constitution. Congress shall make no laws abridging our freedom of speech, that is a reference to PUBLIC property, not PRIVATE. If you offend somebody in anyway, it will automaicaly be deleted in order to keep the majority of people happy. There really is no freedom of speech unless your willing to take the consequences. |
