Question about appeals in the UK?

Is the victim required to be present and give evidence in a appeal for a criminal conviction? Also, is it true that all cases have to be heard in London?

This site gives you information about the appeals process. Appeals from the magistrates' court will be heard at the local crown court, whereas appeals from the Crown Court will be heard in the High Court of Justice in London. http://www.legalappeal.co.uk/timetable.p...
The applications for appeal are sifted through and judges consider whether the material in them indicates that the application has merit and that there is some prospect of a successful appeal. A transcript of the evidence may or may not be ordered by the judge and the court will consider each appeal. It is unusual for lives witnesses to be called to give evidence.

Evidence is not re-heard in an appeal against conviction. The court of appeal goes on the court transcript. If the case has to be re-tried, then that'll be a re-trial. Chances are that if the victim is likely to be helpful at the appeal then the CPS will ask them to be present. If they are asked to be present it shouldn't be to give evidence. It's more likely to be about victim impact and things that might have changed since trial (on reflection more relevant to an appeal against sentence).
Not all appeals are heard in London, but a lot are.

its not true all cases are heard in London, and it depends on circumstances as to whether the victim needs to attend an appeal, not always, i have posted a link to a court site that might give you more info. good luck
