Should we cut down the appeals process for Death Row inmates to lower the court costs? |
Plus we could execute Criminals faster and free up Jail space for our overcrowded prison system There are generally only or or two appeals in a murder case. First to the intermediate appeals court and then to the state supreme court. All the other things prisoners do usually fall under the rubric of habeas corpus. The u.s. constitution prohibits suspension of the writ of habeas corpus except in time of war. We should do away with the death penalty, it is wrong for a murder to kill somebody and the state deciding that that person should be executed is also murder. And as for the over crowded prisons, there wouldn't be over crowded prisons if the state would stop throwing non violent drug offender in jail. With all of the new DNA testing freeing people of crimes they did not commit... I don't think so. |
