Foster Care & Adoption Laws in Illinois? |
I was fosterd for several months before my adoption became final. I had a closed adoption, but the fact still does remain that I was adopted...Anyway I talked to this lady at DCFS, and she said a closed adoption means that the records are sealed period....well i was thinking...since I was fosterd before I was officially adopted then maybe that file isn't sealed, and maybe it had the name to who I came from? IDK too much about IL laws and regulations, but if you know anything that could help me please let me know, even someone to contact to steer me in the right direction would be nice...Also, do you know of any (good) web-sites that are popular that people use to try to get in touch with their bio-fams? Thanks for that info (#1)...But I have tried these...I was looking for somthing else...more toward the being fosterd part. I'm an adoptee, born in 1978 under a closed adoption. It is exactly that. No one will give you information from their files. I happened to know the nurse who was there at my delivery and she had a name and old address for me, which I just used People Search - Intelius I think? and found her current information. By the time I had tracked her down, turned out she (my birthmom) had contacted an agency called http://www.whiteoakfoundation.org/ and I received a letter from them in the mail, they had found me for her. Now we are in regular contact and have met in person twice. Check into the Illinois Adoption Registry and Medical Information Exchange (IARMIE): http://www.idph.state.il.us/vitalrecords... |
